We are a few days into the season and just about every team has a game or two under their belt. I went 4-1 with my picks on opening night, hoping to keep that momentum going tonight. Let's win some money!
Delaware/Air Force under 130.5
Air Force suffered a narrow defeat at Bowling Green on Tuesday while Delaware defeated a D-2 opponent. Air Force was 354th in pace of play last season while Delaware was 222nd. The total in the Falcon's first game was 120 points and I like this one to be around the same with Delaware taking some time to adjust to the altitude. I'm not confident in a final score but I do like this under a lot.
Purdue -24.5 vs Austin Peay
Austin Peay got absolutely boat raced by NC State on opening night. The Governors were catching 12 points on the road and ended up losing by 49. I think that Purdue is a lot better than NC State and I expect Zach Edey to do whatever he wants in the paint tonight. I have the Boilermakers to win this one by 30+.
Belmont +9 @ Furman
Belmont won with a dramatic buzzer beater over Ohio in their first game of the season while Furman beat up on division two North Greenville. Furman looks to be returning a fairly good team after narrowly missing out on the NCAA Tournament last year but this is just too many points for me. Belmont always seems to have a decent team and this year looks to be no different. I think the Paladins get the win but Belmont gets our cover.
Baylor -24.5 vs Norfolk State
Baylor dismantled Mississippi Valley State in their first game by a whopping 64 points. Norfolk State is better than MSVU but are they 40 points better? I'm not so sure about that. The Spartans are 2-0 but both victories came against non-division one opponents. I just don't see Norfolk State hanging around enough to not lose by 30+ or more. I predict Baylor will be up by close to 20 at halftime and win by even more while getting close to the century mark.
Georgia +7 at Wake Forest
The Bulldogs cruised to a win over Western Carolina in their first game while Wake Forest let Fairfield hang around before pulling away to win by 12. Georgia struggled mightily on the road last year which obviously causes concern but I didn't see enough out of Wake Forest to think they will win by eight or more in this one. This is my least confident of my five bets but I like Georgia to keep it close into the second half before Wake pulls it out by 4-5 points.
